HMC Enriches the Community on October 20
What a
wonderful day we had! Sixty individuals showed up for HMC’s 4th
annual Prairie Restoration project at Minneopa State Park.
Participants came from HMC, HSI, Friends of Minneopa, MSU
Service-Learning classes, and the DNR.
Due to the
previous week’s rain we were not able to gather or scatter seed
this year; but we sorted bags and bags of seeds from wild
flowers and grasses. The weather was gorgeous with warm
temperatures and a light breeze to keep the bugs away and the
waterfall was thundering in the background.
We
celebrated the end of the day with water and cookies.
Thanks to
everyone who worked so hard! The seeds will be used to restore
areas of prairie at Minneopa State Park. It will be wonderful to
be able to watch this new prairie area develop over the next few
years.
On October 30th, we had our Community
Enrichment Dinner and Dance to recognize our volunteers. A
costume party was part of the event! |
