In Loving Memory
Evelyn Tiede
April 30, 1924—December 17, 2009
Evelyn
was an exceptionally compassionate person who devoted herself to
her family and friends. Evelyn enjoyed staying active within
her church and the community. She attended church every Sunday
and enjoyed going out as much as possible. She loved going out
for coffee, icees, shopping, and attending community events.
Evelyn also
had an intense love for baking, crocheting, crafts, and jewelry
making. These activities kept her busy during down time when
she was not out in the community.
Evelyn found
much pleasure in telling her life stories. She was quite proud
of her accomplishments. She was exceptionally proud of the help
she provided her close friend Karen’s father. During the time
she lived at Franciscan Sisters of St. Paul she developed
incredible relationships with each one, Sister Josephine in
particular. While living at there she worked very hard cleaning
and cooking.
Evelyn’s
friendships were very important to her and she kept in close
contact with each one of them. Karen, Jill, and Nancy were a
few friends she cherished. Eddie was another friendship. Evelyn
made sure to stay in contact with him even when they were
hundreds of miles apart. Evelyn and Eddie were reunited and
when Eddie came to live at Harry Meyering Center. On February
21st,
2004 Eddie and Evelyn shared a promise ceremony to bless their
relationship.
We cannot
forget to mention her relationship with her case manager, Tom
whom she called “big shot”. Evelyn held Tom in the highest
regard; she confided in him whenever she was frustrated with her
current situation. Tom always had a way of turning any
situation positive.
Evelyn lived
a long amazing life. Her life stories, spit-fire façade, and
kind-heartedness will be missed! Evelyn may be gone but her
spirit will live on within all of us.
